Fred J Molz
Research Professor & Distinguished Scientist Emeritus
Clemson University
USA
Biography
Dr. Molz received his B.S. in physics from Drexel University in 1966, an MSCE in 1968, and a Ph.D. in Hydrology from Stanford University in 1970. He came to Clemson University in 1995, from Auburn University, as a Professor and DOE Distinguished Scientist in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences. Past research interests have involved computer simulation of reactive plutonium transport in variably saturated soils and radionuclide transport in plants. Recently, he began working with Boris Faybishenko, a soil physicist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, on problems involving nonlinear dynamics and deterministic chaos in microbial systems. He is esteemed member of various organizations such as American Geophysical Union (Fellow and Horton Award 1992), American Institute of Hydrology (Emeritus Member, C.V. Theis Award 2006), National Ground Water Association (M. King Hubbert Award, 2014), Geological Society of America (Fellow), Soil Science Society of America, International Association for Mathematical Geology, International Association of Hydrogeologists and Geochemical Society (Member # 178764).
Research Interest
Groundwater-soil-plant-atmosphere transport processes, Surface and subsurface hydrology, Soil mechanics and soil physics, nuclear environmental engineering, Numerical analysis and applied mathematics and Stochastic Hydrology
